Xmas Treats and Gifting with Mumma Maker Baker
Nothing beats a homemade Christmas gift from the heart. And with December already booked before it even began, no one knows this better than local cake and treat maker extraordinaire – Mumma Maker Baker.
Since Jessica Camobreco founded her Moreland Council Registered Home Kitchen in Coburg North she hasn’t really known any different. Specialising in custom buttercream celebration cakes, cookies and other delicious treats, word of mouth throughout Melbourne’s North (and beyond!) has her schedule constantly booked.
When she shared her customisable Christmas hamper boxes and baskets to suit any need and budget across her social channels, it’s no wonder! Featuring gingerbread cookies, reindeer cupcakes, decadent choc raspberry brownies, personalised stamped cookies, traditional shortbread, rocky road and one of her favourites – choc caramel crack pieces – which she has kindly offered to share with us!
A perfect and easy little Christmas baking project with the kids. Just break it up into shards and pop into little clear bags with a ribbon – and you will be the clear favourite family member/friend when handing these out on Christmas day!
Choc Caramel Christmas Crack by Mumma Maker Baker
Ingredients:
- Packet of premium savoury crackers
- 225g butter
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 125g dark chop chips
- Sea salt or other optional topping
Method:
Preheat oven to 180•c.
Line tray with foil and then a layer of baking paper. Top with a even layer of premium crackers (just use as many as needed to cover your tray). Set aside.
Place butter and sugar into a medium sized saucepan. Heat over medium heat until bubbling. Let bubble for about three minutes. Be sure to stir occasionally.
Pour hot mixture carefully over crackers and place in oven for 5 minutes.
Remove from the oven and let sit for a couple of minutes before sprinkling the dark chocolate chips. Again wait a couple of minutes and then spread the now melted chocolate with a spatula or knife.
You can choose a topping to sprinkle on top if you wish! Some suggestions are:
Sea salt
Crushed candy cane
Peanuts
Toasted almond flakes
Peppermint crisps
Pretzels
Chill in fridge and then simply break into shards. Package up in little gift bags or keep in an airtight container. Store in the fridge for a longer and less sticky experience!
A big thank you to Jess for sharing this easy and delicious recipe! We hope you all enjoy and would love for you to share your take on this Christmas treat – what toppings did you pick and how long did they last? (Not long at all we imagine!)
Mumma Maker Baker will be taking a short break but will be back in the kitchen in February 2021 for all of your celebration cake and sweet treat gifting needs. Be sure to visit Instagram to see her latest yummy creations – @mummamakerbaker.
